What
Ithaca Reclaiming is a group of folks in the greater Ithaca, NY area who feel passionately about the interconnectedness of things - like people, the earth, magic, spirit, hope, joy, peace, challenge, change, politics, activism, sustainability and community. We work magic together as celebration, as ecstasy, as one of our actions towards change. We value shared power, shared leadership and shared vision.
We've been known to eat together, circle together, facilitate public rituals together, participate in political protests or support work together, and put on some classes. We hope to keep doing those things and maybe trying out some new ones.
We're both a tight-knit group and a very loose group. There are a few of us who've been part of this group since its inception in 2003, and there are folks who move in and out. We've had times where we've met in a structured way every two weeks, and times where we've maintained our threads through cups of coffee and parking lot conversations where we share skills and life stories.
Values
We identify as part of the Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft, which means different things to each of us. The one thing that's the same is that we all have a general agreement that we support the Reclaiming Principles of Unity. Sure, we have some issues. Some of us feel pretty strongly that we wish the PofU reflected more of our gender divesity as a tradition. Some of us have strong ethics, but don't exactly believe in the Rede - "harm none do as you will." But that's a whole cup of coffee about how we define harm and whether humans really engage in anything that doesn't cause harm somewhere.... Generally, we agree that the PofU is a mapping of a value system that we're on board with.
